GCH Retail To Open 5 More Giant Outlets By Early 2016

PETALING JAYA, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- GCH Retail (M) Sdn Bhd, the parent company of Giant hypermarkets, will open five new outlets by year-end or early 2016.

GCH Retail Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Tim Ashdown, said the outlets would be located in Kinta (Perak); Setapak (Kuala Lumpur); Petra Jaya (Sarawak); Kangar (Perlis); and, Kg Melayu Subang (Selangor).

"With the additional five outlets, we will have 133 Giant outlets nationwide," he told reporters at the signing of a five-year partnership deal with an integrated farm business in Kinta Highlands, Agroto Sdn Bhd, here Thursday.

GCH Retail has four retail banners -- Giant, Cold Storage Supermarkets, Mercato and Jasons Food Hall.

This partnership would reduce the farm fresh produce prices for those who shop at Giant, Cold Storage Supermarkets, Mercato and Jasons Food Hall, he said.

"This partnership is a strategic initiative that would enable us to deliver great quality fresh produce to our customers, straight from the farms in Kinta Highlands," Ashdown said.

The nine produce covered by the supply contract are cabbage, Beijing cabbage, tomato, capsicums, kyuri (Japanese cucumber), chilli, lettuce, little gem and white radish.
